We are pleased to make available a system for reservation of mail-in nibwork for clients who cannot visit us on-site.
We will make a certain number of spots available per month with a due date for sending your pen(s) in. You are welcome to send up to 4 pens at a time. Please contact us by email to info@torontopencompany.com if you need to send more or have pens that need work other than mentioned below.
How does this work
Reserve a spot for the month you intend to send your pen in. At this time there is no charge for reserving a spot but kindly do not reserve one unless you are ready to send your pen(s) in.
Please indicate the service(s) required in the NOTES section when reserving a spot.
Send your pen(s) in to the mailing address provided below.
We will send you an invoice for the work and return shipping when your pens are ready. Pens will be shipped back upon payment of the invoice.
Our turnaround is approximately 4-6 weeks from the date of receiving your pens.
Please let us know what kind of service(s) you require for your pens in the NOTES section. Please include a reference to your order no. along with the pens when you send them.
Mail-in Fountain Pen Services
Tune up
This service is to get your pen writing properly without any modifications. A tune up costs $40 per pen.
This service is needed for the following types of issues:
Ink Flow: Pen is writing too dry or too wet
Hard starts: Pen doesn't start writing when put to paper but writes properly once it starts.
Scratchiness: The nib is scratchy in one or more directions.
Nib Repair
Nib repair is required if the nib is damaged. Nib repair starts at $55 and goes up depending on the amount of work required.
Nib repair services apply to:
Nib is bent e.g. from a fall or other impact.
Nib is lifted off the feed (sprung nib).
Tines are misaligned.
NOTE: Please note that there is always a risk that the tipping, or the nib, might break off during repair. It is not common but you never know what kinds of stresses are present in the metal and how much force has been put on the weld between the tipping and the nib. Of course, there is no charge in case that happens. Also, plated nibs or coated can sometimes show signs of repair depending on the location and sharpness of the bends in the nib.

Pen Repair & Restoration
Unfortunately, we can no longer take pen restoration and repair work.
Please send your pens in so we receive it by the 7th of the month you are reserving for. Also, please include a reference to the order no. so we can identify your pens and perform the requested services.
We recommend sending the pens un-inked and packed with stiff material around them for protection. We also recommend asking for a signature on the package.
